VESTRY

The Vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property. The number of Vestry Members varies from Church to Church, and is usually designated in a Church’s bylaws. Episcopal Church of the Redeemer has Nine (9) members of its Vestry, whose terms are three (3) years each, with three members rolling off each year. The Vestry is led by a Senior Warden, and usually also has a Junior Warden. The Senior warden leads the parish between rectors and is a support person to the rector. The junior warden at Redeemer, and at most Episcopal Churches, is responsible for the Church property and grounds. There also is a Treasurer and a Secretary. All of these officers are nominated by the Vestry and voted upon by the Vestry. The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to articulate the mission of the church, to support the church’s mission by word and deed and to select the rector, to ensure effective organization and the planning and management of resources.  The Vestry and Warden positions at Redeemer are voluntary and unpaid.
